I just finished Cinder Toot - A Cinderella Tooting Tale and I'm still laughing. Starting from page two and continuing throughout, I laughed and laughed at both the amusing twist on this familiar fairy tale and the clever illustrations. A delight which will be enjoyed by the whole family and requested to be read over and over again!
It is so funny. My grandchildren loved it.
As someone whose off-color sense of humor does not usually work its way into my writing, I was a bit apprehensive about the premise when I first heard about this book. All the same, I thought I'd give it a shot. It did not disappoint. If you can get past the "earthy" subject matter, you will see that the story is actually told in a quite charming, non-crass way. The fact is, kids will laugh at this bodily function whether adults encourage them to or not, so this book offers a quirky bonding experience for families who are comfortable discussing the facts of life. I would recommend it for families that fit that bill!
This book is so silly! Good gift for a fun kid. My only complaint is that it seems to be a pretty cheaply made paperback- thin cover and pages.
My family is a family that finds flatulence funny. If potty humor is not funny to you definitely pass on this book. The story is a little bizarre because it centers around a prince loving the smell of Cinderella’s gas which is a little disturbing from an adult perspective….. BUT looking past that, my son thinks it is HILARIOUS!!! This kind of book is the kind of book you have to do voices and ad lib in order to bring it to life, otherwise it’s a pretty flat read, so some effort is required on your part. We have read this book every night for a week. My son wants more. If I could give it any criticism it would be that I feel like the illustrations are a little too dull in color scale and seem like the vibrancy could be kicked up a notch maybe with a bit more contrast. Also there is a part written into the book about Ella holding her slippers when the prince finds her again and there is no context as to why she is holding her slippers when he finds her in the attic. And my son found that page of the book very peculiar and confusing. I had no explanation to make it make sense. As a whole the book is worthy of the space on our bookshelves considering I am a self-proclaimed ruthless children’s book critic.
